Lip Trauma

I try to follow trends and be cool. So, one day while I was browsing, lustfully (I might add), at the shelves in Sephora, I came across a display for lip gloss. I needed some since I had just put on foundation (minerals), eyeshadow, blush, and mascara; all from similar displays. I chose the lip gloss from Urban Decay, because I had always wanted to use their products...and after using it, seeing how adorable I now looked... I started to look around the store, adding more unneeded items to my cart, and my lip started to feel on FIRE!! They were burning and stinging and down right HURT!! I thought I was having an allergic reaction, so I went to the closest mirror and my lips were bright RED and so I went to the lip gloss display and saw the Urban Decay lip gloss was not just ordinary lip gloss, it was this kind...

Yes, lip plumping!!!

I realize my lips are no Angelina Jolie, but seriously, If I have to go through all the pain to get them to look like this...HECK NO!!

I quickly wiped off the gloss, bought some "non-lip-plumping" gloss and as I was talking to the checkout lady, asking if my lips looked freakishly horrid (they were quite red) and she told me this about "lip-plumper's:" They tear/irritate (or something like this) your blood vessels in the lips, so the blood vessels will swell, making your lips look larger! Seriously. Totally not worth it!!!

So, I put on the new gloss (a fruity pina colada from Mr. Knorrs) and I continued my shopping trip. The lip gloss sucked and yes, looked good, but didn't help my poor lips. So, I went to The Body Shop and bought the best CHAPSTICK EVER, And I have vowed to NEVER try to plump my poor lips again!

H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S!!!!!!

I may have laughed out loud a little, but I'll never fully admit that, as I want you to know that I will always support you as my friend without freakishly plumped lips!

HaHaHa

BTW- that picture of the girl is scary enough for me to NEVER EVER try this! REALLY!

I tried Victoria Secrets lip plumping gloss once and it didn't have nearly as dramatic an effect on my lips... thankfuly. I think I just walked around with a pout/pucker all day so I could feel "plumped." I will admit though, despite your pain, that was an awesomely hilarious story. And i'm gonna have to try me that chapstick from the body shop.

Whoa! Glad you survived! That is awful! I have used some plumping lipstick before, and it stung and tingled, but not that bad!
I am glad you are ok and got an awesome lipgloss!
